551 East 12th Street.From 1962 to 1966, Stanley's Bar was the main watering hole for the East Village freaks, particularly the mysterious editorial board of Fuck You, a magazine of the arts. Some of the Fugs' first performances were here. Stanley Tolkin was the owner, and he also ran The Dom on St. Mark's Place.
If you are ever in NYC get a copy of Bill Morgan's The Beat Generation in New York. It is advertised as a tour of Jack Kerouac's city, but there are plenty of landmarks dealing with the Mimeo Revolution, like Stanley's, included as well.
