If I remember correctly Jack Spicer edited the first five issues of J. This would therefore be the first issue without his editorial hand. This makes sense as Spicer does not appear in its pages (Ron Lowensohn, Joanne Kyger and Helen Adam do; all SF staples). The majority of the magazine is dedicated to printing a selection of Helen Adam's San Francisco's Burning, which was first performed in 1961. See http://writing.upenn.edu/pennsound/x/Adam.php for a 1977 performance. The complete San Francisco's Burning was later published by Ebbe Borregaard's Oannes Press in 1963. With or without Spicer, once again J has a striking cover; this one for Issue #6 is iconic mimeo art.
