PIECES

Creeleyfest continues on the Mimeo Mimeo blog. Pieces is often regarded as a major turning-point in Creeley’s writing, and along with A Day Book and Presences, are the books I perhaps return to most often. Pieces's design boldly announces that this is a major departure from the Creeley of For Love (also issued by Scribner's)—Garamond and Caslon have been swapped out for a modern sans serif while the time-honored black and red color combinations have been replaced by orange, yellow and black. I was looking for information about a retrospective showcasing the work of graphic artist Michele Maldeau who did this iconic dustjacket, but found nothing. Was it only a dream, or are my Google skills failing me?
