There are a host of interesting auctions in the next few months. Portions of Dennis Hopper's art collection is going under the hammer at Christie's on November 10th and 11th as part of a larger contemporary art sale. The catalogues for this auction look fantastic and are retailing for $60 a pop. There are ecatalogues available on the Christie's website. Sotheby's also has a contemporary art sale on November 9th. This catalogs are available for download.
Shortly before Thanskgiving, there is a Rare Books and Manscript sale. Among the illuminated manuscripts there are some very interesting materials relating to computing, including an Enigma machine. This early Apple I caught my eye: http://www.christies.com/LotFinder/lot_details.aspx?from=salesummary&intObjectID=5370965&sid=d2f9b0f2-48da-45a0-b3d5-0f4f4b9fa90a
This auction serves as a timeline of the birth of print to its "demise" and the rise of digital publishing.
