Counter-Cultural Indicator

Here is a picture of Indica, in some ways The Hermitage of its time. The name refers to a species of marijuana. So much of the Sixties is tied to Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll. Indica is no different, but the name also suggests indicia, or distinguishing marks, specifically the markings on mail showing that postage has been paid. Indica was a center of books and an international jumping off point for the distribution of the products of the Mimeo Revolution through the mail. The Sixties is more than notch on one's belt, tracks on one's arm, or tracks on an album. For me the decade's lasting influence comes from making marks on a page or a canvas.
